Smoking Gun Bagels craved a copy makeover, inspired by a culinary awakening on a whirlwind, carb-loaded trip to Montreal. This adventure totally shifted their bagel game, sparking their newest venture.
Bagels are back, baby. And these are crispier, chewier and tastier than any you’ve ever met before. Let’s be honest, the circled classic was yearning for a much-needed change. That’s where Smoking Gun rolls in - breathing new life into an age-old favourite. Bursting with flavour and enriched by ancient grains, we proudly present our sourdough and stone-baked reincarnation.
After studying the science behind dough at the San Francisco Baking Institute and a carb-loaded trip through New York, every bagel brought Mark and Dave closer to the bite that changed everything. Their curiosity led them to savor every crumb and scrutinize every texture and topping that came their way. It wasn’t long until they stumbled upon something pretty special in Montreal. Their signature bagel, hand-rolled and wood-fired, was the one that ruled them all. Its unique character inspired them to create their own. So in 2014, armed with a crackling wood-fired oven and a bubbly sourdough starter, they were gearing up to bake their first bagel. After a few trials, a lot of tests, and the occasional error, Mark and Dave were ready for the grand reveal.
And yes, we might be biased, but it was well worth the centuries wait.
